Records from the family Bible of Godfry Bethune & Eliza Perry of Cedar Lake, Yar. Co., NS, who were married on 14 Feb. 1833. Title page and publication page for this Bible are no longer available. This Bible record was loaned to our archives for copying by Society member Ann Sorensen, who obtained same from the Yarmouth County Historical Society, 22 Collins St., Yarmouth, NS. Their copy was deposited there by Hugh Brown of Cedar Lake, Yar. Co., NS, who owns the original.

The Bible comes from his home at Cedar Lake, which was the Judson Porter house, and originally the Benjamin Porter house. 4p.

MG1 Ser. E Bingay, #1

Records from the family Bible of John Moody Bingay & Mary N. Hatfield of Tusket, NS, who were married 15 Feb. 1877. Bible published at Oxford and Printed at the University Press, London: Henry Frowde, Oxford University Press Warehouse, Amen Corner New York: 91 & 33 Fifth Ave. No publication date given.

Family records are found in back of Bible – plus four deaths are recorded in the front on the fly-leaf.

Archives has original Bible.

MG1 Ser. E Bingay, #2

Records from the original family Bible of James Bingay, born 1797 who married Mary T.R. Moody 29 July 1824. This is the original family Bible.

There is no title or publication page remaining in this Bible. At an early date someone also recopied the family record onto new pages. Inside the front cover is written “Rebound at R.H. Davis’s, Yarmouth, Feby 3rd, 1942 – $2.00. James Harold Bingay.”

The recopied family record was bound into the Bible with the original record when the rebinding was done. James Harold Bingay, Tusket, NS, obviously owned this Bible and then passed it on to John M. & Marion (Harcus) Bingay of Central Argyle, NS. Peter & Jim Harcus, Toronto, Ont., executors of the estate of the late Marion (Harcus) Bingay donated the Bible to our archives in 1996. 3pp. [original records] 8pp. [recopied original records - with some additions]

MG1 Ser. E Blades, #1

True certified copy of records from the family Bible of Jacob Blades and Dorcas Nickerson of East Pubnico, Yar. Co., NS, who were married on 6 March 1867. No title page.

Includes records on Dorcas Nickerson’s parents and siblings.

Copy donated by Kenneth H. Peters, Pubnico, NS, who copied the original owned by Burton & Mary (Brewer) Nickerson, Argyle Sound, Yar. Co., NS. She obtained the Bible from her uncle, the late Earl Nickerson of Yar. Co., NS. 6p.

Original family Bible of Cyriac Boudreau[?] donated to the archives by [unknown source] Bible was published by P.F. Collier at New York in 1884.

No family records were kept in this Bible, although there are blank pages provided for same. 708p.

MG1 Ser. E Bower, #1

Family Bible originally belonged to Ophelia (Roberts) Ser.E Bower of Kemptville, N.S. Bible was published in 1878 – Title & publication page now missing. Publication page before New Testament indicates the Bible was published by the American Bible Society at New York, 1878.

Family members who donated this Bible believed a family record was kept in this Bible but was lost due to water damage. Only faint, indecipherable writing can be discerned today. There is no readable family information found in the Bible.

This Bible was donated by Caroline Clelland & Norma (Travis) Weigel. [M1995:507]

MG1 Ser. E Brayne, #1True certified copy of records from the family Bible of Wentworth Brayne & Sadie L. Wood of Tusket Falls, N.S., who were married 28 Aug. 1886. The Bible contains a record of their marriage, marriage of their children and births and deaths of family members. This edition of the Bible is the “Self-Pronouncing Edition” published by P. W. Ziegler & Co. at Philadelphia, PA & St. Louis, MO in 1892. This Bible was loaned for copying from Karen Newman, Tusket Falls, N.S. The original family Bible was passed down to Karen’s maternal grandmother, Ada (Raynard) Brayne of Tusket Falls, N.S. and then after `her death to Karen Newman. Ada Raynard had married Clifton Brayne, son of Wentworth Brayne, the original owner of this Bible. 12 p. [Access.#M1998:5]MG1 Ser. E Brayne, #2

Records from the family Bible of Ada (Raynard) Brayne of Tusket Falls, Yar. Co., N.S. This Bible contains records for the Raynard and Brayne family as well as a number of obituary clippings for various family members. Ada Raynard was born in 1897. There is no title page which gives any date of publication or publisher in this Bible. It is not an old Bible and was probably published in the 1940′s or 1950′s. Ada (Raynard) Brayne is the one who entered all of the records.

The Bible was owned in1999 by Karen Newman, Tusket Falls, N.S., granddaughter of Ada Brayne. 7 p. [Access.#M1999:96]

True certified copy of the records from the family Bible of Robert Whitfield Bullerwell & Cora McWhinnie of Little Egypt, Yar. Co., NS, who were married on 11 June 1889. Bible published by American Bible House, Philadelphia & New York, 1897.

Includes photocopy of records from a hand-written letter and envelope.

Loaned to archives for copying by Karen E. Sweeney, Tusket, NS, who was given the original family Bible by her great aunt, Sadie B. (Bullerwell) Wood of Tusket, NS, who was the dau. of Whitfield Bullerwell. 10L;11p.
