Series consists of records pertaining to the care of the poor, mentally handicapped, and infirm in the Municipality of Argyle. Series is arranged into two sub-series, and include:

Sub-series 1: Financial Accounts. — 1880-1925. — 33 cm of textual records.
Sub-series consists of financial records pertaining to the care of the poor, mentally handicapped, and infirm in the Municipality of Argyle, and includes: financial ledgers, financial summaries, expenditure estimates, payment for groceries, payment of room & board, payment to physicians for medical services, payments for clothing, payment of funeral expenses, and travel reimbursements for people conducting business on behalf of the Overseers of the Poor.

Sub-series 2: Bonds of Maintenance and Other Legal Contracts. — 1886-1924. — 3 cm of textual records.
Sub-series consists of contracts drawn up between various private parties and the Overseers of the Poor to provide for the care of particular individuals coming under their jurisdiction. Contracts provide for the care of the aged, physically and mentally infirm, bastard children, and the poor. Sub-series also consists of one indenture of apprenticeship (1887).
